1. University of Toronto -- Liberal Arts
   The Ottawa Citizen – June 8, 2004 – Two assistant professors at the University of Ottawa, Hani Naguib and Amor Jnifene, have created an artificial arm powered by an alloy that mimics the contraction of human muscles. The creation is just one of many showcased at IS 2004, the 14th Annual Canadian Conference on Intelligent Systems.
2. James Moran -- Cities

3. Motorola -- Technology
   Motorola's feature-packed cell phone, the Moto A910, gained the approval from the FCC. The phone runs a special Linux-Java operating system and boasts WiFi connectivity over UMA. The A910 is equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera and Lumi-LED Flash technology.
4. Adolph Hitler
   One crucial aspect of the event which historians have overlooked is the fact that Adolph Hitler and Henry Tandy both fought at the Battle of Ypres in 1914, a far more significant event in the life of Hitler. He distinguished himself in combat several times and saved the life of a seriously wounded officer, his heroism resulted in him being promoted to Lance Corporal. The famous picture by Matania depicting Tandy carrying a wounded comrade to the first aid station at the Menin Cross Roads was painted based on that battle not Marcoing. It's possible that places got mixed up, it may well have been Ypres not Marcoing where Hitler and Tandey crossed paths and parted on amicable terms. Tandey told a journalist that during the Great War he had as a rule spared wounded and disarmed German soldiers, so Marcoing wasn't the first or last time he performed a humane deed in inhumane circumstances. The fact he was awarded the illustrious VC for heroic deeds at Marcoing may have affected Prime Minister Chamberlains recollections of Hitler's war story, which may have included Tandey's having won the VC at Marcoing, a fact which would have undoubtedly impressed Hitler.
5. George W. Bush -- United Nations
   George W. Bush's powers of persuasion are so weak that of the 45 mostly small nations providing "support" to Bush's invasion of Iraq, only 3 sent troops to participate in the actual invasion. (Source: Ottawa Citizen March 26, 2003).
6. Hollinger International
   As Conrad Black prepared to address shareholders at Hollinger International's annual meeting in May 1996, the company was under two credit reviews for having too much debt. Both the U.S.-based Standard & Poor's Corporation and Canada's Dominion Bond Rating Service put Hollinger International on credit watch. Standard & Poor said that a downgrade was inevitable "in the absence of Hollinger taking significant steps to ease its debt burden." The company had about $445 million of debt outstanding, plus debt it had taken on to increase its stake in Southam and debt it might take on to complete its purchase of the Telegraph. Moody's debt-rating service soon followed with an announcement that it, too, was reviewing its rating of Hollinger's debt. At the time, Hollinger International was the third largest newspaper chain in the world behind Gannett Co. Inc. and Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
7. Rich Little -- Variety Artists
   Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Little was the middle of three sons of a physician. He began performing professionally in night clubs at 17. He acted in Ottawa's Little Theatre and became a successful disc jockey who frequently incorporated impersonations into his show. In 1963, he was asked to audition by Mel Tormé, who was producing a new variety show for Judy Garland. The audition won him the job and he broke into show business.
8. Tar -- Tar Sands
   Downstream from the Tar Sands is the First Nations community of Fort Chipewyan, where residents have experienced worrisome health abnormalities. 9. George H. W. Bush -- George W. Bush
   On January 3, 2005, President George W. Bush named him and Bill Clinton to lead a nationwide campaign to help the victims of Asian tsunamis. They both appeared on the Super Bowl XXXIX pregame show on Fox on February 6, 2005 in support of their bipartisan effort to raise money for relief of the December 26, 2004 tsunami in southeast Asia through the USA Freedom Corps, an action which Bush described as "transcending politics." Thirteen days later, they both traveled to the affected areas to see how the relief efforts were going. Despite their history as political opponents, the two former presidents have become friends.
10. George Bush -- United Nations
    In his fourth year Bush continued his emphasis on foreign affairs. He put more pressure on Israel to end its construction of new settlements in the West Bank by linking continued American foreign aid to Israeli policies regarding that disputed territory. He insisted that Iraq dismantle its strategic weapons and won United Nations sanctions against Libya until that nation agreed to turn over terrorists for trial in the 1988 bombing of a Pan Am passenger jet. He vetoed a Democratic bill to end “most favored nation” treatment of China (a policy giving it the lowest tariffs on goods exported to the United States), and his veto was sustained. At the end of 1992 he sent marines and other military personnel into Somalia to provide protection for relief workers alleviating the famine in that country. In early 1993 the United States and Russia signed a nuclear arms reduction agreement.
