Little was known about Sturm and unlike Bernard Hopkins, Oscar would not cruise to an easy victory. Sturm surprised most by giving Oscar all he could handle and much more. Although in the end Oscar's hand would be raised as the victor, the final decision was surrounded by controversy with many thinking Sturm had done enough to deserve the win. Nevertheless, with Hopkins and Oscar walking away as winners the September 18th bout was now set.
