Oprah Winfrey Bio Oprah is the undisputed Queen of All Media and, with a personal net worth of $1.4 billion, she is the world’s only black billionaire, according to Forbes. Born poor in Mississippi and sexually abused by relatives during her childhood, Oprah still managed to excel in school, reading before she was three and skipping two grades; at 18, she even won the Miss Black Tennessee Beauty Pageant. Although she got her start as a TV newscaster, it was as an empathetic talk show host that she was successful in taking over the worlds of broadcast and cable TV, magazines, books, movies, and Broadway. Even director Michael Moore has begged her to run for President. Since Hurricane Katrina, she has focused much more on charity work, including her own Oprah’s Angels organization, which she promotes heavily on her show. Recently rumors have swirled around the true nature of her relationship with her best friend Gayle King, though both have denied they are gay.

In conjunction with Oxygen, Winfrey created a series Oprah Goes Online, detailing her adventures with friend Gayle King as they learn how to use the Internet. Since its initial debut, the Oxygen Network has stumbled in the ratings, and Winfrey has become less involved in the project. In addition to her media projects, in 1999 Winfrey joined the faculty of Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management to teach the course "Dynamics of Leadership." Winfrey's partner, Stedman Graham, is the coteacher.

Oprah thrives on having all the attention of the world place on her and Gayle. Oprah will impress the world when she actually adopts a child and bring that child to American. Did Oprah even considered giving the rural communites in the United States a chance of receiving a new school not just inner city schools. What was the point of having the so called celebrities attend the opening of the school. Once again, Ms. Self- rightous and Gayle are at it once again. It is time for Oprah and her talk show and so called radio show to be removed from tv and the air waves and give some else a chance.
