Not one to forget where she came from, Oprah is a strong advocate for children's rights. She addressed congress regarding the "National Child Protection Act," a bill she proposed to create a nationwide database of convicted child abusers. She told the story of her childhood and that of so many other children who were unnecessarily endangered. President Clinton signed the bill and Oprah is monitoring its progress.
"Talk to Me with Oprah Winfrey" provides listeners and fans with a direct way to share their thoughts with Oprah as she takes calls from listeners each week during the half-hour program. Using the toll-free number (866-OPRAH-XM) fans across the country can call Oprah to discuss, ask questions and share stories. Oprah will open each show with a brief monologue that will serve as the underlying theme, starting with this week's theme "Life Lessons."
