The Ontario government has promised "to create a modern electricity system that is safe, clean, reliable and affordable." The Association of Major Power Consumers in Ontario (AMPCO) endorses that goal. From an electricity customer point of view, the single most important policy choice is the future supply mix in Ontario. Energy Minister Donna Cansfield told a Toronto Board of Trade audience last week that she expects to issue a directive to the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) later this month.

The Office of the Auditor General of Ontario seeks a senior-level adviser to provide non-partisan expert analysis and advice on provincial government advertising. Under the recently passed Government Advertising Act, 2004, the Auditor General's responsibilities will include the review and pre-clearance of specified types of government advertising in accordance with standards outlined in the Act. The main intent of the Act is to ensure that proposed advertisements, printed material, and messages are not partisan in nature.
