To implement the network, the Ontario Government has entered into a contract with Laurentian University and Cambrian College in Sudbury, and with Lakehead University and Confederation College in Thunder Bay. A Northeast and a Northwest Regional Co-ordinating Centre are being established in each city respectively. Key personnel in these sites are the following: Marian Croft, Director of Continuing Education, Laurentian University; Pam Derks, Dean, Continuing Education, Cambrian College; Judy Roberts, Director, Northeast Regional Co-ordinating Centre; Susan Cole, Co-ordinator, Distance Education, Lakehead University; John Arblaster, Chairman, Academic Studies, Confederation College; and Terry Anderson, Director, Northwest Regional Co-ordinating Centre.

With the $392million federal Affordable Housing Trust and Off-Reserve Aboriginal Housing Trust, theOntario Government proposes to launch three new housing initiatives to assist low-income families in Ontario. The first will immediately provide $127million to municipalities for new affordable housing or to rehabilitate existing housing.

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE The Ontario government, Shaw Festival and the Canadian Standards Association are changing the way patrons with disabilities are being served when they go to the theatre. Ontario Minister of Community and Social Services and Minister Responsible for Ontarians with Disabilities, Madeleine Meilleur, today joined Shaw Festival Executive Director Colleen Blake to celebrate the results of the Shaw Festivals participation in the Building Champions program. Through this program, the Canadian Standards Association worked with seven champion businesses and organizations to develop and test new customer service training for businesses to use when serving customers with disabilities.

LCG, August 5, 2004--The Ontario electricity market today is faced with a need to rapidly develop new electricity supplies in order to meet the government's goal of shutting down its aging fleet of coal plants and reduce emissions. The coal plants represent about 7,500 MW of capacity, or roughly a quarter of Ontario's generating capacity. Yesterday, Ontario Energy Minister Dwight Duncan visited the Calgary Chamber of Commerce to discuss the government's vision for the energy markets and interest in attracting the private sector to invest in new generation located in Ontario.
