Oni is in the midst of an interdisciplinary concert project relating poetry to piano. Each spring from spring 2007 through 2009, she will perform a different solo piano concert of pieces that are related to poetry in some way, presenting the original poetic texts and their relationship to the music as part of the concert. The First Oni was, as its moniker indicates, the first oni created by Fu Leng. As the bearer of the true name of Fu Leng ("Fu Leng" is a false name for the Ninth Kami, and his true name has been lost to the ages), the First Oni is the most powerful oni ever created.

Oni manages to compensate for dull graphics, empty interiors, lack of a multiplayer mode and unfriendly saves with intense action and impressive enemy AI. The game is fun, challenging, and ultimately worth the frustration.

Since it's defeat by Shiba the First Oni was incapable of reentering the Mortal Realm. It was ... able to send it's spawn through. These spawn are known as Natsumono, and they do not share their name with the First Oni, as the First Oni did not wish to share the power of Fu Leng's real name with any other oni.
