Desert Camps in Oman are set in vast open spaces of Oman. Many are permanent and designed in the local Bedouin style with date palm walling or as above goats hair tents. They either have mattresses on the floor or basic beds. Some have activities such as dune buggies (quad bikes), which can continue into late evening especially at weekends. The meals are casual with simple food. An alternative is to use dome tenting for private camping in more isolated areas
Oman has been a centre for traders for centuries. In 1508, the main port, Muscat, was captured by the Portuguese, who were expelled in 1650 . Oman was then taken by the Ottomans in 1659. The Ottomans were driven out in 1741, when the present line of sultans was formed by AHmad ibn Said. However, Oman was occupied by Persia between 1743 and 1746.
Oman has several post offices and there is a high frequency airmail system to overseas destinations. There is ... an express mail service for urgent postal delivery. The Sultanate also has branch offices of most of the top international courier services.
If you managed to get a map of Oman regard it as how Oman would like to have the roads. Some roads might be drawn as well-built streets but are not even paved. Roads not being visible on the map might just end and may even be painted till the end!

Outside Oman, OOC is actively pursuing commercial ventures to provide an alternate source of revenue for the Government of Oman. Currently, the company is involved in upstream energy projects in Kazakhstan and Caspian Sea. As is the case with projects in Oman, being a commercially driven government-owned company makes it attractive partner of companies pursuing energy projects in many areas of the world.
