The landscape of Nunavut has been shaped by ice sheets and glaciers, which carved out deep valleys and fjords. Upon melting, ancient ice sheets deposited an assortment of clay, stones, boulders, and ridges of sand and gravel. Today, glaciers and ice caps cover about 57,900 square miles (150,000 square kilometers) of Nunavut. However, in the 21st century, rising temperatures, retreating sea ice, and thawing permafrost are altering the landscape of Nunavut.
Nunavut is bordered by Baffin Bay and the Labrador Sea to the east, Manitoba and Saskatchewan to the south, and the Northwest Territories on the west. Covering 777,000 square miles (almost 20% of Canada) Nunavut is larger than Alaska. Nunavut contains three regions—Kitikmeot, Kilvalliq (Keewatin) and Qikiqtani (formerly Baffin)—and 28 communities.

You can discover Nunavut's miles and miles of shoreline, numerous islands and reefs, never before explored or fished for trophy lake trout! And, while you are here, in addition to the amazing wildlife such as herds of caribou and peregrine nesting areas on the nearby rocks, the muskox herd on Dubawnt and Mosquito Lake numbers approximately 200 of these majestic shaggy beasts - so bring your camera!
[I]t is worth travelling to Nunavut to see this one. Only one slight problem: it is so expensive to get there, that from Vancouver it would be cheaper to travel to China or even Bayan Olgii in western Mongolia to watch the eclipse there. And the chances of getting clear skies are much better in Mongolia and China (map).

At only 30000 total residents, Nunavut does not receive a great deal of immigration on an annual basis. With the mining industry beginning to take off ... Nunavut is eager to attract skilled workers who can contribute to the growth of its economy.
