The University of Michigan-Notre Dame football rivalry is headed for hiatus when its current contract expires after the 2011 season. Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White said Oklahoma would replace Michigan on the Fighting Irish schedule for a two-year period, according to a story Saturday in the Mobile (Ala.) Press-Register.

Notre Dame, IN (UHND) – Jon Tenuta’s name was mentioned in connection with multiple defensive coordinator positions this off-season including Michigan, Texas A&M, an LSU just to name a few. Instead, Tenuta ended up at Notre Dame not as a defensive coordinator, but as the linebackers coach and assistant head coach for defense and the Irish’s new fiery assistant coach wouldn’t have it any other way.

Notre Dame finally scored its first offensive touchdown of the season on a 1-yard run by Travis Thomas to cap a 9-yard drive in the first quarter. The score was setup by a Michigan State fumble.

Former Notre Dame running back Julius Jones signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks Friday. The signing could mean the end of the Shaun Alexander era in Seattle and could mean more playing time for Jones who had his worst season as a pro in 2007.
