Notre Dame Football: Games
built 478 days ago
notredame-logo.gif It’s been quite awhile since the University of Notre Dame was a perennial power in college football. The on-going malaise this season is bringing the program under intense scrutiny. Charlie Weis was lured away from the NFL in 2004 and appeared to be the answer to the problems experienced by the Irish in his first two years as Head Coach. Notre Dame went 9-2 in 2005 and lost a BCS bowl to Ohio State. In 2006 the record improved to 10-2 and yet the team lost another BCS bowl, this time to LSU. Even with the bowl game losses, it appeared Notre Dame was on the right track.
The 11th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish will try to continue their long-time domination of the Navy Midshipmen this weekend in Baltimore. Notre Dame has won four straight since losing against still undefeated Michigan. Although Notre Dame has not won all 79 games that it has had against Navy since the two teams started playing in 1927, it has won every game for the past two generations.
You don't have to have Rudy's can-do attitude to get some Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Tickets. They are available right here, and anybody can have them. However, if you want these great Notre Dame tickets, you'll have to act fast. You don't want to miss out on some great college football. The Irish will be playing their home games at the historic Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, one of the premier places to watch an NCAA football game. With rivals ranging from the USC Trojans to the Navy Midshipmen, there are plenty of great games to go to this season- if you can get tickets.

Notre Dame Football Tickets Notre Dame Stadium is home for the Fighting Irish, one of the most prestigious college football teams in history. Located in South Bend, IN, the stadium first opened for games in 1930 with a seating capacity of 54,000. In 1997 the university added 21,000 new seats to the stadium, bringing the seating capacity to the present 80,795. Of these more than 80,000 seats, only a small number are available for purchase.
Notre Dame football has finally hit rock bottom this season. The program portrayed so mythically in the movie Rudy has lost its first five games this season by an appalling average margin of 24 points. It is the first time in school history that the team lost its first four games, and the seven-year losing streak dating back to last season is the longest in school history since 1960. The Charlie Weis-led offense has produced a pathetic five touchdowns (none until the fourth game.)

Notre Dame Stadium on game day, with student section and band Over the years, Notre Dame has occasionally worn green instead of blue as its home jersey, sometimes adopting the jersey for an entire season--or more--at a time. Currently, Notre Dame reserves its green jerseys for "special" occasions. Often on such occasions, the Irish will take the field for warmups dressed in blue, only to switch to green when they go back to the locker room before kickoff. This tradition was started by Dan Devine in 1977 before the USC game. Notre Dame has ... been known to switch jerseys at halftime, as during the 1985 USC game, and in the epic loss to Nile Kinnick-led Iowa in 1939, although this was to help avoid confusion between their navy uniforms and Iowa's black ones. The current design of the jersey is kelly green with gold numbers and white outlining.
