Norwegian Pearl ... features another first for the NCL fleet, a rock climbing wall. Constructed at the back of the ship's funnel on deck 14, the wall stands at an impressive 30 feet in height and 19 feet in width and has been designed with five different climbing routes, each with varying degrees of difficulty. The wall's reddish-brown sandstone color is reminiscent of the Ayer's Rock in Australia.

Norwegian was the first cruise line to offer a private tropical island experience exclusively for NCL passengers. Great Stirrup Cay, located east of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, is the northernmost island in a chain of islands known as the Berry Islands in the Bahamas. The 2.5 by 1.5-mile island boasts white-sand beaches lined with palms. Its pristine waters are home to an abundance of colorful marine life that inhabit the surrounding coral reefs. Paddleboats, sailboats, floats, kayaks, and snorkeling equipment are all available.

NCLs revolutionary approach to cruise ship dining creates its own set of challenges, though. Just as with land-based restaurants, there are more popular times than others for dinner. Guests choosing to eat in the main dining rooms between 7:00PM and 8:00PM should expect a potentially lengthy wait of up to 20 minutes before being seated.
