Keep all appointments with your doctor so that your response to Generic "Norvasc" can be checked and your dose adjusted accordingly. Your doctor might ask you to check your pulse (heart rate) daily and will tell you how rapid it should be. Ask your pharmacist or doctor to teach you how to take your pulse. If your pulse is slower than it should be, contact your doctor about taking Generic "Norvasc" that day. You might ... be asked to record your blood pressure while taking this medicine. Norvasc® is a type of medicine know as a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It is used to treat high blood pressure and a type of chest pain called angina, which occurs when not enough blood flows to the heart.
