Northern Kentucky University is located in a safe, suburban area just across the Ohio River from the city of Cincinnati, Ohio. NKU was founded in 1968 and is the newest of Kentucky's eight state universities. The atmosphere of the campus is futuristic, emphasizing a high-quality education by supporting the liberal arts. Twelve major buildings are of modern, contemporary architectural design and are set on 300 acres of rolling countryside. Recovery Network of Northern Kentucky is a consumer-run agency that provides services to persons living with mental illnesses and persons who are homeless. Consumer-run organizations are planned, directed and staffed by persons living with mental illnesses. The Recovery Network of Northern Kentucky operates under the umbrella of the Mental Health Association of Northern Kentucky, a (501(c) (3) non-profit organization.
