Nortel + Leap Wireless Posted by samc on July 9th, 2007 Nortel Networks has received a three-year contract to supply Cricket Communications with wireless network equipment, the companies said Monday. Nortel valued the agreement at US$135 million. Cricket will ... earn credits that can be applied to future products and services from Nortel. Cricket, a subsidiary of publicly traded Leap Wireless, will deploy Nortel CDMA2000 1X and EV-DO Rev A equipment to expand mobile voice and data services in markets across the United States. The Company and its joint ventures now operate in 23 states and hold licenses in 35 of the top 50 U.S. markets offering prepaid wireless service with free unlimited incoming calls from anywhere with outgoing calls at 10 cents per minute along with free incoming and outgoing text messaging.

Donation will connect post-secondary schools, benefit local industry Nortel Networks has donated optical network equipment valued in the millions to UBC’s Faculty of Applied Science it was announced today. With core switches capable of switching packets at 10 Gigabit-persecond speeds over optical links, it is enough telecommunications equipment to fuel the communications needs of a country the size of Switzerland.
Nortel Networks ist von der Deutschen Telekom mit der Lieferung von Netzwerkarchitektur-Lösungen für das T-Net beauftragt worden. Mit der Lieferung soll schon im Frühjahr diesen Jahres begonnen werden. In Zukunft soll ein erheblicher Teil des Telefonverkehrs im Festnetz der Telekom über die neue Architektur abgewickelt werden. An dieses Netz sind etwa 40 Mio. deutsche Telefonkunden angeschlossen. Die sogenannte Low Layer-IN-Technologie von Nortel filtert sämtliche Verbindungungsanforderungen aus dem Netzwerk heraus und bestimmt, wie die Anrufe am besten weiterverarbeitet werden.

This was an important one-day symposium that brought together some of Ontario’s leading thinkers from the worlds of science, business, media and government to discuss the keys to competitiveness in the knowledge-based economy.
