Nitroglycerin tablets should be kept in their original container and stored at room temperature. The bottle should ... be kept away from heat and moisture. Keep it in a location that is convenient for you to reach quickly in the case of chest pain attack. Other nitroglycerin forms are not used to stop chest pain from occurring but to prevent further attacks. Your doctor or pharmacist can provide information regarding the use of these drugs. If you have any questions about the different types of nitroglycerin products, please contact your healthcare provider or your pharmacist.
Nitroglycerin (NG), (US spelling) ... known as [N]itroglycerine, (UK Spelling), trinitroglycerin, trinitroglycerine and glyceryl trinitrate, is a chemical compound. It is a heavy, colorless, oily, explosive liquid obtained by nitrating glycerol. Since the 1860s, it has been used as an active ingredient in the manufacture of explosives, specifically dynamite, and as such is employed in the construction and demolition industries. Similarly, since the 1880s, it has been used by the military as an active ingredient, and a gellatinizer for nitrocellulose, in some solid propellants, such as Cordite and Ballistite. Nitroglycerin is also used medically as a vasodilator to treat heart conditions, such as angina and chronic heart failure.
Nitroglycerin has one major disadvantage... - it is very, very unstable. To be a useful explosive, a substance has to be able to withstand, without detonating, the jolts and bumps both of its manufacture, and of its transportation to where it will be used. Clearly, nitroglycerin is far too dangerous for this, and many people lost their lives in the last century trying to use nitroglycerin for peaceful purposes (like quarrying). The man that solved this problem, was the Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel.

Nitroglycerin was created by in 1847 by Ascanio Sobrero at the University of Turin. However, Alfred Nobel found the best method of producing it in the 1860’s. Due to its unstable nature, nitroglycerin was banned and, in turn, led to the production of dynamite by mixing together inert absorbing agents with the nitroglycerin. Nobel used kieselguhr, which is ... known as diatomaceous earth, and was one of the first producers of dynamite. Due to this discovery, and its inevitable use in World War One, Nobel created the Nobel prizes to refrain people from remembering him as the scientist who caused mass distruction. It is a colourless and oily compound that has properties that make it a very powerful explosive reagent.
Nitroglycerin aerosol spray is only for use in the mouth. Use the nitroglycerin mouth spray at the first sign of an angina attack (chest pain or tightness). You can ... use nitroglycerin spray 5 to 10 minutes before an event likely to produce chest pain. Follow the directions on the prescription label.Taking care not to shake the container, remove the plastic cover. Hold the container upright and spray either onto or underneath the tongue. Do not breathe in the spray.

Nitroglycerin was discovered by chemist Ascanio Sobrero in 1847, working under TJ Pelouze at the University of Torino. The best manufacturing process was developed by Alfred Nobel in the 1860s. His company exported a liquid combination of nitroglycerin and gunpowder as 'Swedish Blasting Oil', but it was extremely dangerous as a result of its extreme instability. The liquid was widely banned, and this led to the development of dynamite), by mixing the nitroglycerine with inert or combustible absorbents. In its pure form, it is a contact explosive and degrades over time to even more unstable forms. This makes it highly dangerous to transport or use.
