1. Oliver Cromwell -- Civil War
   Cromwell suppressed the Levellers by force and then set about subduing first Ireland and then Scotland. In the former Cromwell fought a tough, bloody campaign in which the butchery of thousands of soldiers at Drogheda (Sept. 11, 1649) and hundreds of civilians at Wexford (Oct. 11) caused his name to be execrated in Ireland for centuries.

   The South Alabama Jaguars men's basketball program has had a short but fairly successful history, despite being in the small Sun Belt Conference and located in a state dominated by football powerhouses Alabama and Auburn. In their 39 years of history, the Jaguars have compiled an overall record of 628-473 (.570). They are currently coached by Ronnie Arrow, who succeeded John Pelphrey after the 2006-07 season.

   Though some opponents of the death penalty are quick to argue that capital punishment has no deterrent effect, many supporters feel that the purpose of capital punishment is retribution, not deterrence. Many individuals, especially those with close ties to the victim, are more often concerned that the convicted criminal pay for the crime than that other persons be deterred through punishment of the perpetrator.

   Norfolk, VA – The Delaware State Hornets extended their win streak to six and improved to 8-2 (6-1 MEAC) with a 33-10 win over the Spartans of Norfolk State University. The loss dropped NSU to 3-7 (1-7 MEAC) and extended their losing streak to six. The win ... kept the Hornets in a tie for the MEAC Championship with Hampton University.
8. Siena College -- Games
   Brooklyn, NY --The Wagner College women's water polo team made it four wins in a row after they knocked off Siena College for the second time this season 12-9 in a game played at St. Francis College. The victory puts the Seahawks back at the .500 mark at 14-14 with a record of 6-3 in MAAC play.
9. Cheyenne Indians -- Groups
   The Cheyenne Indians started as a group of amateurs playing baseball recreationally. But by 1900, they became a professional team with paid ball players. The Indians' top year was 1923 when they finished the season with 28 wins and 1 loss. They won the 1923 championship game of the Rocky Mountain League in Denver against the home team, Elitch All-Stars, by a score of 7 to 4. Thousands of fans attended the championship game, with at least 2000 being from Cheyenne when the town's population was just over 14,000.
