Nissan Xterra: Xe V6
built 230 days ago
The Nissan Xterra is a good choice for people with active life style. The rugged Xterra with its great ground clearance and sporty off-road look asks to take it on a camping trip or off-road. The Xterra is fairly reliable and dependable truck, but don't expect it to be cheap on gas. Based on the Frontier pick-up, the Xterra has body-on-frame design with double-wishbone front suspension and solid rear axle with leaf springs. Available as rear-wheel and 4-wheel drive, with a choice of V6 and 4-cylinder engines and 4-speed automatic or five speed manual transmission. Anti-lock brakes are standard.

A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on the S 4X2, and a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on the SE 4X4. The 2005 Nissan Xterra has been redesigned for 2005.

Backed by a 4.0-liter, 265-hp V6 with a choice of 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission, the 2008 Nissan Xterra can carry up to 66 cubic feet of cargo with the 60/40 split-folding rear seats down. An optional folding front passenger seat adds more space. The cargo area is gear-oriented, with adjustable tracks and ten hooks. But the cargo capacity doesn't stop there. The standard roof rack features a lockbox, and with an optional tow package, the 2008 Xterra can tow up to 5,000 pounds. Though the top-of-the-line SE comes with luxuries such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel and 6-CD changer, this SUV is more adventure than family oriented.

The Nissan Xterra is a barebones SUV for serious off-roaders. Providing some of the best V6 engine performance in its class, the Xterra delivers power and utility at an affordable price. Its innovative utilli-track system keeps its interior neat and organized, but that's not to say its comfortable. Hard plastic dominates the interior, making it just as hard on the inside as it is on the outside. If King Leonidas were alive today, it wouldn't be surprising if this were his vehicle of choice.
Nissan Xterra comes with the choice of 4-cylinder 2.4L or 3.3L V6 engine. The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine is a good reliable engine with the long-lasting timing chain, but for this truck it feels way underpowered. The 3.3-liter V6 SOHC ... feels a bit slow on pick-up, but for daily use it's a good, durable simple engine. It has a timing belt that needs to be replaced at certain interval. The SE model comes with supercharged version of the same engine with more power.

A roof rack and rear privacy glass are standard on all 2003 Nissan Xterra models. Side steps are a feature on the XE V6, the SE, and the SE S/C, while front tow hooks are offered as standard on the SE and the SE S/C. A pop-up sunroof is available for the SE and SE S/C models, and naturally a tow hitch is an option for all Xterra models.
