built 132 days ago
Nikki Ann Sanderson[1] (born 28 March 1984 in Blackpool, Lancashire) is an English actress who is best known for playing Candice Stowe in the television soap opera Coronation Street. During her time at Coronation Street and since, she has ... forged a career as a glamour model and television presenter on programmes such as CD:UK, Junior Eurovision and Ministry of Mayhem.
Sanderson joined Coronation Street in 1999 and left in Autumn 2005. Prior to this, she had appeared in children's drama Children's Ward. In 2006, she appeared in a guest role in the BBC television series New Street Law alongside other notable Coronation Street alumni Chris Gascoyne and Chris Bisson. British newspaper The Daily Express stated that she was in the running [citation needed] to replace Billie Piper as the Doctor's companion in Doctor Who... Freema Agyeman was chosen for the role. Sanderson appeared in a production of The Vagina Monologues in Blackpool in 2006. She will next appear in the ITV series Strictly Confidential.
Despite being hired, at the age of 15, for just five episodes of the iconic soap, Nikki was such a hit with audiences she became a regular cast member, growing up in front of the nation. The Lancashire lass, who quit Corrie in 2005, is ... a gifted singer - she won Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes in 2002. She placed her vocal talents on the back burner, however, to concentrate on guest appearances as Sammy Dean in BBC courtroom drama New Street Law.
As feisty hairdresser Candice Stowe in Coronation Street, Nikki was the hottest snipper in TV history, a kind of foxy, less-mental Delilah. If she’d been employed in your local crimpery, you’d have invented a new hair-style that needed trimming every two weeks. You’d have left her big tips. And you’d have prayed – oh, yes, prayed – for some unspoken accidental strokage when she was lathering VO5 into your dandruffy head nest.
