Nick Lachey used to be known as the front man of mid-1990s boy band, 98 degrees. However, in 2003 he released his self-titled debut album. Lachey grew up in Cincinnati. He then moved to Los Angeles hoping to get a degree in Sports Communications. He soon joined 98 Degrees with his younger brother and some friends. In 2003, his popularity rose after his appearances on the MTV reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.

Just as the boy band phenomenon began winding down somewhat, Lachey felt it was time to focus on other artistic ventures. The second tenor married his longtime girlfriend, singer Jessica Simpson, in fall 2002 and launched a solo career. He and Simpson instantly became A-list celebrities when their MTV-based reality show, Newlyweds, captured American audiences in 2003. While their show was still going strong, Lachey issued his first album for Universal, the R&B/pop-flavored album SoulO, before the year\'s end. In between albums, Lachey tried his hand at acting. He appeared in several episodes of the WB\'s Charmed in 2004 and 2005, and a small part in the Nora Ephron comedy Bewitched.

Nick Lachey was left speechless when one gay fan suggested he give up on women following his painful split from Jessica Simpson - and give men a try. The star was promoting his new album when he was approached by the cheeky fan, who started off the conversation by telling Lachey he felt for him after the public break-up. Lachey says, “I was asked if I’d ever consider playing for the other team, which was a ‘Ooh, I’m not expecting that one.’ I answered it, ‘While I respect the other team and recognise that there is another team and they too play ball, I am not interested in playing for the other team.’” via

On October 26, 2002, Nick married his longtime girlfriend, fellow pop star and actress Jessica Simpson (born on July 10, 1980). However, after three years of marriage, the couple announced their separation on November 23, 2005, and filed for divorced in December that year. Their divorce was finalized on June 30, 2006. After the divorce, Nick’s house, who he co-owns with Jessica, was bought by Malcolm in the Middle teen actor Justin Berfield. Nick is now looking to buy property in his native Ohio.

Lachey dated fellow pop star Jessica Simpson for four years and married in October 2002. Under Jessica's father's advice, the two starred in the reality TV show Newlyweds in an effort to jump-start their careers. The series proved to be a success, running for three seasons until the couple's split in 2005. Since his divorce in June 2006, Lachey has been dating TV personality Vanessa Minnillo and the two have recently moved in together, sharing Nick's home in Bel Air as well as purchasing a condo in Manhattan.
