Nia Vardalos, the star of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," filmed part of a new romantic comedy among the ruins on the Acropolis. The scene will appear in "My Life in Ruins," ... starring Richard Dreyfuss, and follows a decision by Greek authorities to relax their ban on any commercial use of ancient sites. Authorities vetted the script for historical accuracy and convened a panel of senior archaeologists to give final approval. The director, Donald Petrie, denied suggestions the script was watered down to secure access, saying restrictions to protect monuments were obvious. "We don't bring in fake Roman columns," he said, smiling.

Nia-Vardalos The indie movie, written by Vardalos, follows a commitment-phobic woman who closely adheres to a set of dating rules but finds them put to the test when she falls for a Brit who dumps her. “He’s mischievous and dirty on the phone, so he’s a joy to write for,” Vardalos said about Purefoy. “The part was written for an American guy in mind, but I’m now revamping the script to make it about a British guy who doesn’t understand the ways of American women.”
