Newspaper Articles: Index
built 123 days ago
A large and comprehensive collection of newspaper obituaries and death notices from the United States and U.S. outlying areas. Each obituary or death notice is indexed by the name of the deceased person, to make searching easier and more precise. In addition, the text of each obituary or death notice is searchable, making it easy to find just what you're looking for using a place of residence, occupation, names of family members, or other personal information. Some notices go back to the early 1990s, most go back only 3 to 4 years.

Newspaper articles offer the opportunity to read first hand accounts of events as they happen. The UC Irvine Libraries subscribes to several indexes that provide electronic access to both current and historical newspapers.

To find older newspaper articles, printed indexes to individual papers are available. Only a few of the newspapers available at the HSU Library publish their own indexes. These not only locate articles within that single paper, but ... pinpoint the date of an event so that you can search other newspapers and periodicals.
