1. Google News -- Stories
   Google News is interesting on several levels, including that it's entirely automated. There are no Google editors, only computer algorithms selecting what are the top stories of the day and the best coverage of those stories -- and providing links to that content.
2. Abc News -- Stories
   That’s what an ABC News staffer asks about ABC News Now, the network’s broadband news channel, which has been showing up YouTube a lot lately. And not in a good way. The most recent clip involves anchors Ryan Owens and Taina Hernandez, who handle the overnight broadcast, laughing through the story on Owen Wilson’s suicide attempt. Turns out this isn’t the first time, as a YouTube user has assesmbled a bunch of clips of the duo laughing through stories on terrorism, fires and floods. “It’s all the more puzzling that ABC News would countenance such sophomoric antics on the same channel where the division is looking to extend its hard-news brand,” writes Marisa Guthrie in B&C.
3. Cbs News -- Stories
   In 1987 CBS News started a new kind of newsmagazine. Unlike others, 48 Hours focused on a single topic. Initially, all the shooting was done in two days and presented in raw chunks with little narration. The aim was to let viewers experience the story themselves. 48 Hours got its name from the successful CBS News documentary special 48 Hours on Crack street. It was hosted, usually on location, by CBS Newsman Dan Rather.
4. News Readers -- Stories
   The Los Angeles Times is delivering breaking news about the California wildfires to millions of online readers in blog-like fashion, with brief dispatches from correspondents, added at the top. Many of the stories are in the "human interest" vein.
5. Msnbc News -- Nbc News
   Msnbc.com is a privately run news organization started by Microsoft and NBC in 1996. The site is one of the most decorated, highly trafficked news sites on the web, serving more than 29 million unique visitors per month. Contrary to popular belief, msnbc.com is run independently from both Microsoft and NBC and even the MSNBC news channel. It is its own organization, headquartered in Redmond, and has been growing and profitable for several years now. Msnbc.com employs about 200 people.
6. News Nbc News
   Former NBC News reporter John Hockenberry now a Distinguished Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab writes an interesting piece in the January/February Issue of Technology Review about his time at the network’s Dateline NBC. 7. News Nbc News -- Programs
   Although the operations of CBS News have received more attention from historians of broadcast journalism, NBC's operations often received higher ratings. From 1956 through 1970, NBC's Huntley-Brinkley Report anchored by the team of Chet Huntley and David Brinkley consistently exceeded the viewership levels attained by CBS News and its main anchor Walter Cronkite. The pair, together with fellow correspondents Frank McGee and Jay Barbree, distinguished itself in the coverage of American manned space missions in the Project Mercury, Project Gemini and Project Apollo programs, during an era when space missions rated continuous coverage. (An entire studio, Studio 8H, was configured for this coverage, complete with models and mockups of rockets and spacecraft, maps of the earth and moon to show orbital trackage, and stages on which animated figures created by puppeteer Bil Baird were used to depict movements of astronauts before on-board spacecraft television cameras were feasible. Studio 8H is now the home of the long-running NBC show Saturday Night Live.)
8. News Nbc News -- Nbc Nightly News
   NBC Nightly News debuted in July of 1970 after Chet Huntley left the Huntley-Brinkley Report. David Brinkley anchored with John Chancellor and Frank McGee as part of an anchor trio that was not as successful as the Huntley-Brinkley pairing. A year later McGee left for Today and Brinkley was relegated to doing commentary. This left John Chancellor as solo anchor of Nightly News. However, he was never able to break Walter Cronkite's grip on the American public. So Chancellor anchored Nightly News solo until April of 1982 when co-anchors Roger Mudd and Tom Brokaw took over.
9. News and Media
   News Aggregators (such as Yahoo News, Google News, and Drudge Report) and portals were ... significant sources of traffic for News and Media websites. Traffic from portal frontpages to Print, Broadcast and IT Media websites constituted 4.9 percent, 17.0 percent and 11.9 percent of traffic, respectively, to sites in those subcategories.
10. Headline News
    This morning, CharterX Industry Headline News obtained a letter in which Robert Wells, CEO of Swiss-based TAG Aviation Holding, announced it has agreed to sell its subsidiary, TAG Aviation USA, to Sentient Flight Group, LLC. The announcement comes after the Federal Aviation Administration revoked AMI Jet Charter's air carrier certificate on Oct. 12, under an emergency order. Wells wrote: "This transaction will provide TAG USA with the best possible solution to an ‘operational control' matter related to its affiliated AOC holder, AMI Jet Charter. The operational control issues were largely the result of the structures ofTAG Aviation USA and AMI Jet Charter, mandated by foreign ownership and investment (in the case of AMI) in the companies."
