On Dec. 12, New York City Council Member Hiram Monserrate held a press conference at New York University to celebrate the student Campaign to Stop Killer Coke victory at the campus. Present with the Council Member were members of the student group; Jose Schiffino, CSEA Local 1000 organizer and a member of Monserrate's factfinding mission to Colombia; USAS national organizer Camilo Romero, and Campaign Director Ray Rogers. Also present were striking members of the Graduate Student Organizing Committee (GSOC) - UAW. Speakers linked the two struggles in speeches and slogans including "GSOC in! Coke out!"

The New York International Latino Film Festival is the first festival in New York City to showcase the works of national Latino filmmakers alongside international Latin American films, while offering expansive images of the Latino experience. The festival presents works in the categories of Feature Film (in Spanish and English) and Vanguard Cinema, which includes experimental works, documentaries, student works and short films. In New York City, on October 26, 2005, a demonstration began at the New York City offices of Coca-Cola on 5th Ave. and marched down to the Colombian consulate on 46th Street. Herbert Allen, president & CEO of Allen & Co. and Donald Keough, chairman of the board of Allen & Co., who are on the board of directors of The Coca-Cola Co.... have offices in the building. SunTrust Banks, the bank of Killer Coke, leases offices in the building, which is owned by a Coca-Cola subsidiary.

(AP Photo/Kathy Willens) At dusk on New Year's Eve, Erika Gunderson got into a taxi in New York City and entered a digital-age mystery. Sitting on the back seat was a nice Canon digital camera. Gunderson asked the driver which previous passenger might have left it, but the cabbie didn't seem to care. So Gunderson brought it home and showed it to her fiance, Brian Ascher. They decided that the only right thing to do was to find the owner.
