Ever since its formation, it has been a continuous saga of struggle for the New Orleans Saints. They had to spend over a decade before finally ending a season with a .500 record and two decades before having a winning season. The Saints had their best times from 1987-1992, when they made the playoffs four times. In the 2000 season, they defeated the St. Louis Rams in dramatic fashion for their only playoff victory.

Tom Planchet, of WWLTV.com, reports New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said WR Robert Meachem, who did not see any playing time this season, will be 'in the mix' at receiver next season. Meachem was the team's first round pick in the 2007 draft and the head coach said the young receiver has been impressing the coaching staff with his scout team performances in the past few weeks.

Devin Hester raced past the New Orleans Saints and ended their bid for a return to the playoffs. Hester sprinted 64 yards for a touchdown on a punt return, his NFL-record sixth kick runback for a score this season to break his own mark set a year ago.
