From left, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young and Pegi Young perform in Neil Young: Heart of Gold, which offered renditions of some of Young's best-known songs. Neil Young was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to sportswriter and novelist Scott Young and Rassy Ragland, who had moved to Toronto from their family home of Manitoba to pursue a sport journalism career. Neil spent his early years in the small country town of Omemee, in southern Ontario (130 km northeast of Toronto). He was diagnosed with diabetes as a child[5] and a bout of polio at the age of 6 left him with a weakened left side; he still walks with a slight limp.
The Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young reunion tour, which wrapped April 19 at the Kiel Center in St. Louis, grossed about $43 million and played to 92% capacity over the course of 40 shows. "All the experts out there were wrong," says Arthur Fogel, president of Toronto-based the Next Adventure/SFX, which produced the tour. "This was a great show, and [CSNY] were a pleasure to work with."
