The pilot plant has the capacity to produce one million gallons of biodiesel, of which the base uses 20,000, and supplies the remaining to Ventura County and Channel Islands National Park. The use of mobile processing units may eventually allow the Navy to produce its own fuel in bases around the country and overseas.
