Nas performing in 2004. Nas' former label, Columbia Records, released his Greatest Hits album in November. This compilation features 14 songs: 12 from his seven first studio LPs under the label and two newly recorded songs. One of the new tracks, "Less Than an Hour," features Cee-Lo of Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley fame. The track is a new take on the theme to the hugely successful Rush Hour film trilogy starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, and will appear on the upcoming Rush Hour 3 soundtrack.[32] The other new track, "Surviving the Times," contains biographical lyrics about Nas' career and production by Chris Webber.
Nas keeps it vital from jump. On "Q.B. True G," featuring Compton's The Game, the two MCs trade verses over a vicious Dr. Dre beat; the student pays homage to the teacher, remembering standing on line to cop Illmatic. On the Nas-produced "Where Are They Now," Nas runs through a litany of classic, bygone MCs over a monster James Brown sample. The theme continues on the Scott Storch-produced "Carry On Tradition," a warning to students of the game. "Still Dreamin'" features a soul-heavy beat and hook from Kanye West.
Nas Through a chance encounter, Nas hooked up with and rapped for an impressed Large Professor (despite popular belief that MC Serch was the first one to meet Nas). His advanced flow and unheard-of-rhyme-schemes compelled LP to give this young QB native a chance. Nas did not disappoint, as he exploded onto the rap scene in 1991 on Main Source's "Live At The BBQ" posse cut.
