Naples: Naples Bay
built 656 days ago
Naples Information and Tourism Naples is the largest city in south Italy and one of the most beautiful, particularly around the Bay of Naples. The capital city of Campania, Naples is a sprawling metropolis that was founded by Greeks, enlarged by Romans and as a result is rich in history and stunning architecture. Several tourism and tourist information offices are located in the city centre of Naples and these provide up-to-date information about Naples tourist attractions, museums, annual fiestas, sightseeing and general Naples tourism advice.
Italy's third largest city, Naples, lies along the north side of the Bay of Naples, about 120 miles (190 kilometers) southeast of Rome. The bay juts into the western side of the Italian peninsula. Mount Vesuvius, an active volcano, rises above the bay to the east of the city.

Centro direzionale di Napoli (Naples Financial Centre) Naples enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification: CSa) with mild, wet winters and warm to hot, dry summers. The mild climate and the geographical and morphologic richness of the bay of Naples made it famous during Roman times when emperors chose the city as a favourite holiday location.
Naples was founded during the late 1880s by former Confederate general and Kentucky U.S. Senator John Stuart Williams and his partner, Louisville businessman Walter N. Haldeman, the publisher of the Louisville Courier-Journal. It had grown into a resort town by the turn of the century. The city got its name from developers who advertised it in the north as to have "a bay comparable to that of Naples (Italy)".

Trams, trolleybuses and buses in Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi Since 1995, the historic center of Naples has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, a programme which aims to catalogue, name, and conserve sites of outstanding cultural or natural importance to the common heritage of humanity. The deciding committee who evaluate potential candidates described Naples center as been "of exceptional value", following on that Naples' "setting on the Bay of Naples gives it an outstanding universal value which has had a profound influence".[7]
When you look at the photos of Naples old and new, you can't help but wish the "Treasure Island" of blue channels and bays had never changed. Though they once were for tourists to enjoy, today Naples is a series of manmade islands that contain residences. The homes are beautiful, but not real useful to tourists vacationing in Long Beach and Southern California.
