N64 Wiring diagram If the R button is held down when plugging the adapter into the console, the N64 C-left and C-right buttons are mapped to the Gamecube Y and X buttons. This makes it possible to play the virtual console game Sin and Punishment.

Nintendo 64 chipset: CPU, RCP, and RDRAM. RF Switch and RF Modulator – This accessory set allows the Nintendo 64 and model 2 SNES (redesigned after the launch of the N64) to hook up to the television through RF. It was primarily intended for customers with older televisions that lack AV cable support. Since the Nintendo 64 and model 2 SNES lack built-in RF compatibility, the modulator acts as a special adapter that plugs into the Nintendo 64's AV port to give the Nintendo 64 RF compatibility. The RF switch itself is identical in every way to the RF switches released for Nintendo's prior systems (the NES and the SNES) and can be interchanged if needed. This identical set was later re-released for the GameCube to ... give it RF compatibility, and additionally, the connectivity cables intended for the GameCube will fit the N64.
The overall best N64 backup unit, given price, flexibility, features, and support, appears to be the CD64. At the lowest price point, it has something for coders, cheats, pirates, and gamers, and really there isn't much that it isn't capable of doing well.
This is the legendary UltraHLE, the first N64 emulator to run commercial games. It even has sound and joystick support (the joystick support isn't too great, though). The initial release could play 17 games, but, with the help of updated ultra.ini files, it can now support many more. It was discontinued 6 hours after it's initial release, but it's now being worked on again. You'll need at least a P2-233 system to use it. It runs on Glide, so a 3dfx card or a Glide-wrapper is required. Here's a compatibility list created by Demi.

[One] feature of some backup units is that they have a boot emulator built into the BIOS of the unit, a program that is already running on the N64. The Z64 and CD64 have this feature when working with the on screen display. As a result, you can seamlessly load any game that works with the built in boot emulator of the BIOS. The CD64 boot emulator seems to boot more games successfully than the Z64 boot emulator. Even when you run across a game that you cannot boot with the BIOS boot emulator, you can either use the universal boot emulator by LaC, use a game-specific boot emulator, or use a crack that replaces the boot code in the program image.
Two updates have been released since the last news post about the N64 plugin Glide64. This plugin allows you to modify N64 games with high-resolution textures to get better graphics during gameplay. The changes are as follows:
