Mythbusters: Jamie Hyneman

Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman were the original MythBusters, and explored all the myths on the show using their common background in visual effects. The two work at Hyneman's effects workshop, M5 Industries, and make use of his staff. One of the show's gimmicks is the interaction between Savage and Hyneman, which is similar to a double act, wherein Hyneman plays the straight man and Savage is the comic foil/relief. The show is narrated by Robert Lee, though in some regions his voice is replaced by a local narrator.

Jamie Hyneman and his colleague, Adam Savage, are the hosts of "Mythbusters," a show about exploding the notions taken from folklore, history, movies, the Internet and urban legends. Can a skunk's smell can be neutralized with tomato juice? Did the Confederacy come up with a two-stage rocket that could strike Washington from Richmond, Va.? Can a sunken ship be raised with Ping-Pong balls? Could a car stereo be so loud that it would blow out the windows?

When the exact details of a myth are unclear, the MythBusters will often vie with one another to find and implement the best solution. For one myth, they competed to see if a person falling off a building could safely fly or glide to the ground by holding onto a sheet of plywood. Savage built a wood parachute-device, while Hyneman opted for a glider-shape construct. Both were tested, along with an unmodified standard plywood sheet design. Neither of those methods worked...; in both cases, Buster and the plywood plummeted unimpeded to earth.

These are just a few of the myths, urban legends, and improbable sayings that the Mythbusters try to figure out. Comprised of special effects experts Adam Savage and Jamie Heineman - as well as their mottley crew of Mythbuilders, Mythterns, and resident \'crash test dummy\' Buster - they don\'t just tell the myths, they put them to the test to see which ones are possible, and which ones are just plain bunk.
