Mythbusters: Episodes

MythBusters actually checked it out in Episode 49 (Season 3). Older cell phones on older planes do mess up the navigational equipment, and so the FAA put a broad-scale ban on cell phone use on flights. They ... tested an older phone on a new plane, but the new plane was properly shielded. Still, the FAA doesn't want to risk the chance that any plane is downed in the future, so they're sticking to their guns on the issue. They also explained that in-flight phones are so expensive because technology was developed specifically for it.

Each MythBusters episode typically focuses on several unrelated urban legends, popular beliefs, Internet rumors, or other myths. Occasionally episodes are produced in which some or all of the myths are related by theme. To date, three myths have required such extensive preparation and testing that they had entire episodes devoted solely to them,[4] and four specials have been double length.[5]
The Lodi News-Sentinel had a short story on the Mythbusters episode that is scheduled to air Wednesday night. The episode features Klein Family Field at Pacific as well as on-camera shots of Pacific head baseball coach Ed Sprague and undergraduate assistant John Devaney.
