Mysterio: Spider-Man
built 657 days ago
Mysterio continued to clash with Spider-Man for years, both alone and in the company of the Sinister Six, until learning that he would pay the ultimate price for his life of crime. Beck was diagnosed with a brain tumor and lung cancer, both caused by the chemicals he had used to concoct his illusions. He was released from a prison hospital with a year to live.

No counterpart for Mysterio has ... far been written into the Ultimate Marvel universe. However, the character was alluded to in the "Hollywood" arc of Ultimate Spider-Man (which poked fun at the Spider-Man movies) as a villain in a movie about Spider-Man.

Quentin Beck was the first to wear the Mysterio outfit. He was once a expert special effects man and attempted to gain fame. Beck decides the only way to gain his fame is to somehow defeat a famous person, who, unfortunately, happened to be Spider-Man. He creates the well-known Mysterio costume to disguise himself, and tried to fight and destroy Spider-Man, but fails. He later realizes he was a fool to try to take down superheroes and commits suicide by shooting himself. He returns later in the Spider-Man universe, having amazingly survived his suicide attempt.

More recently, a teleporting mutant named Francis Klum was seen purchasing Mysterio's costume from The Kingpin, swearing revenge on Spider-Man for the events in Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do. This would make him the third Mysterio, and the first Mysterio to have actual powers instead of using illusions.

After being paroled, Mysterio renewed his illegal activities. Seeking revenge on Spider-Man, he joined with the tentacled terror Dr. Octopus; the shifty Sandman; the high-flying, lowdown Vulture; Kraven the Hunter; and the supercharged super-criminal Electro. However, even the combined efforts of this Sinister Six proved insufficient to accomplish what none of the villains could achieve alone. During his second brief imprisonment, Beck learned the arts of hypnosis and slight of hand. Upon his release, he created the identity of Dr. Ludwig Rinehart, and used technological and psychological weaponry in an unsuccessful attempt to drive Spider-Man insane.

Spidey will team up with the Hob Goblin, who will be Harry Osbourne, and Quentin Beck will be behind the Mysterio phenomenon. Mysterio or Venom are the only two characters that comes to mind as tough villians, even for Spider-Man.
