AMÉLIE MAURESMO is back where she was this time last year, in the semi-finals of Wimbledon, leaving Anastasia Myskina, her defeated opponent, to wonder why she is not Russia’s best-known female tennis player. The answer, of course, is Maria Sharapova. Myskina, who was beaten 6-3, 6-4 yesterday, has failed to top the heights of spring 2004, when she became the first Russian woman to win a grand-slam title at the French Open.

Anastasia Myskina is more than unlucky in today’s clay season. Though she has never been great in the previous clay tournaments in the United States, this defeat is especially painful. Myskina will hardly be able to defend the title in forthcoming Roland Garros, if she doesn’t improve.

In October 2002, Myskina had a series of photos taken for GQ magazine by the photographer Mark Seligerfor a spread in the October 2002 edition of GQ, in which one approved photo of her fully clothed was published. After she won the French Open in 2004, some photographs from the shoot, in which she appeared topless, were published in the July/August 2004 issue of the Russian magazine Medved (Bear). In August 2004, she filed an $8 million USD lawsuit against the men's magazine GQ for allowing her topless photographs to appear in a Russian magazine Medved without her consent. On June 19, 2005 U.S. District Judge Michael Mukasey ruled that Anastasia Myskina could not stop the distribution of the topless photos, because she had signed a release. Myskina had claimed that she did not understand the photo release form and that she was not fluent in English at the time.[8]

In 2002, Russian tennis player, Anastasia Myskina, who then was 20 years old, posed for photographs by Mark Seliger. Seliger first photographed Myskina for the Gentleman's Quarterly's 2002 "Sports" issue and then photographed her topless. Myskina had signed a model release that said she consented to the use of her name and the pictures by the magazine and by "others it may authorize, for editorial purposes."

In her interview with the Tvoy Den (Your Day) newspaper, Anastasia Myskina said that she wanted to have a baby, but had not found the right man to help her fulfill her maternal wish. Myskina shared another secret of her private life and said that she had feelings towards a US athlete, James Blake. No one has been able to ask Blake’s opinion on the matter yet.

Anastasia Myskina was born on July 8, 1981 in Moscow, Russia. She was born to Andrey and Galina. She was destined to be a tennos star. She started her career at a tender age of six years. In the Spartak club she was coached by Marat Safin's mother. But in 1994 they moved to Spain after which she started recieving training from Svitoslav Mirza.....
