Combined multiplication tables have a number of single multiplication tables written on one tablet. Almost all of the principal numbers appearing in combined tables ... appear as the principal number on a single table. One of the most interesting facts about OB combined multiplication tables is that the individual sub-tables are nearly always written in the same order of descending principal number. This implies that many of the known tablets are practice copies of portions of a complete or 'canonical' list of tables. Most tablets start either at the beginning or in the middle of the canonical list.

The multiplication table is the familiar grid that contains an x quadrant, ranging from 0-12, 0-10, or 0-9, and a y quadrant with numbers of the same range. The product of any two numbers can be found by looking at the intersection between x and y. For example, if you wanted to find 8 X 2, you would merely look at the 8, and move down to the 2 space, to find the number 16. Alternately, since order does not affect simple multiplication, you could find the number 2 and count over to reach its intersection with the number 8.

You can choose the order of elements along the top row (or left column) of the multiplication table using your mouse. (Note that order of elements in the top row and left column determine the contents of the rest of the table. Group Explorer fills it out using the group operation.)

This program is designed to help you child learn their multiplication and division tables. It ... will help them with their addition and subtraction. Your child will be timed as they go through the tables. The quicker they can complete their math tables, the better they know them. The table can be done in order or randomized. The program will also keep track of the number of extra tries needed to complete the Math table they chose.
