Mulan books, toys, and Sing-A-Long are in stores, and Disney stores put out Mulan stuff on May 29, 1998. The video and soundtrack are ... available. McDonald's also had the Happy Meal toys. The Disney Store Online has more information about other products, and you may also look here.

Mulan is not the typical Disney movie, and characters here are portrayed similar to those in Chinese art. It is ... one of the first Disney movies where the female lead was not a princess, but instead a tough warrior. She is stronger, braver, and much more independent than most Disney heroines.
The animation in Mulan had an eye catching Asian influence. The backgrounds were unique and beautifully painted. The characters featured a wide variety of shapes and sizes that were fun. Little touches of Chinese culture here and there were ... memorable from the opening watercolors to the pink blossoms on the trees. This film also built on the computer animation used in other Disney films. The "Hun Charge", while very similar to the wildebeest stampede in The Lion King, features hundreds of unique characters, sweeping camera angles, and a degree of detail not used before.

Cri-Kee the lucky cricket, Mushu the wisecracking dragon, and Mulan the cross-dressing warrior. The title protagonist of Mulan, a young Chinese woman, is having trouble finding her place. Despite the best efforts of her mother and the other women of her neighborhood, Mulan's meeting with the Matchmaker is a disaster, derailing her course, as the culture dictates, to marriage. The natural disappointment that follows, though, is less about a desire to meet a man than it is about Mulan feeling uncomfortable with getting all decked up and looking pretty to be betrothed.
From right to left: Khan; Fa Mulan; Mushu; Cri-Kee Mulan features a score by Jerry Goldsmith and five songs by Matthew Wilder (music) and David Zippel (lyrics), with a sixth originally planned for Mushu, but dropped following Eddie Murphy's involvement with the character. [30]The movie's soundtrack is credited for starting the career of pop princess Christina Aguilera, whose first song to be released in the U.S. was her rendition of 'Reflection', the 1st single from the 'Mulan' soundtrack. Reception for the song, and Aguilera's vocals were so well received, that it landed her a recording contract with RCA records.[31] In 1999, she would go on to release her self-titled debut album, on which 'Reflection' was ... included. As well as her own, the pop version of "Reflection" has 2 Spanish translations, because the movie has separate Spanish translations for Spain (performed by MalĂș) and Latin America (performed by Lucero). Other international versions include a Brazilian Portuguese version by Sandy & Junior ("Imagem") and a Mandarin version by Coco Lee.
After saving her nation from evil Huns, the spirited Mulan gets the surprise of her young life when her love, General Shang, asks for her hand in marriage. Before the wedding... Mulan and Shang must seal a national alliance by escorting three princesses to their own arranged marriages. When Mulan discovers these women are to be wed against their will, the plans change, and what started as a fight against the rival Mongols becomes a fight with her beloved fiancé. Breathing fire into all the mayhem is the mischievous Mushu, who wants to keep Mulan single as long as possible in order to retain his job as her guardian dragon.
