Muhammad: Egypt Jerusalem
built 237 days ago
Unlike the 18th century Ghanian Anto Amo, who worked and lived in Europe, Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Fullani al-Kishnawi spent his life career in the middle east. He was a Falani from northern Nigeria. He traveled to Egypt and in 1732 he wrote a manuscript (in Arabic) of procedures for constructing magic squares up to order 11. As words of encouragement to the reader he writes:
Muhammad Ali Muhammad Ali reached his position by his own skills, and his position was under threat both from the Ottoman sultan as well as from Egyptian groups. The most important act to secure his position was to eliminate the Mamluks, the military elite which could have threatened his own position. He ... managed to impose great control over other groups that in many respects had enjoyed great independence from the state earlier, like merchants and the Bedouins.
