   Virtual DJ+ is the REAL audio broadcasting software for DJs. It allows mixing several MP3 files automatically synchronized on the BPM & an automatic BPM matching among several MP3 files in real time. It covers all the stages of the broadcasting process: CD ripping, music database administration, playlists editing and real time work. The CD data is automatically imported from the Internet using CDDB. Virtual DJ+ proposes a new way of mixing: you can monitor and adjust the next mix while the music plays on the dance floor.    The effort comes on top of Google's plans to create a multimedia search engine for Internet-only video that it will likely introduce next year, according to sources familiar with the company's plans. In recent weeks, Mountain View, Calif.-based Google has demonstrated new technology to a handful of major TV broadcasters in an attempt to forge alliances and develop business models for a TV-searchable database on the Web, those sources say.

If Google recognizes the band, album or song, they will put results at the top of search.

   By this time Singingfish was clearly the dominant multimedia search engine. No competitor indexed as much of the audio and video content available on the web or provided more relevant query results. In the fall of 2001, Real Networks signed a deal with Singingfish for the latter to provide audio and video search for RealOne Player. In January of 2003, Microsoft signed a similar deal[10], in this case to provide audio and video search for Windows Media Player and WindowsMedia.com.

   Google Alerts is a nifty tool that will monitor Google results with predefined search terms and then email you those results. They will send the email to you once a day, as it happens or once a week. You can insert any topic or query that you wish to keep tabs on.
10. Lycos Search -- Web Portal
    Under new ownership, Lycos began to refocus its strategy in 2005, moving away from a search-centric portal, toward a community destination for broadband entertainment content. With a new management team in place, Lycos ... began divesting in properties that were not core to its new strategy. In July 2006, Wired News, which had been part of Lycos since the purchase of Wired Digital in 1998, was sold to Conde Nast and re-merged with Wired magazine. The Lycos Finance division, best known for Quote.com and Raging Bull.com, was sold to FT Interactive Data Corporation in February 2006, while its online dating site Matchmaker.com was sold to Date.com. In 2006, Lycos also regained ownership of the Lycos trademark from Carnegie Mellon University, becoming Lycos, Inc. once again.
