Mp3 Players: Songs
built 193 days ago
The Apple iPhone is an example of a flash drive. The flash memory MP3 player is the smallest and lightest and typically stores fewer songs than hard drive players. Because it's small and contains no moving parts, it's ideal for exercisers. And with some models boasting up to 8 GB of storage (2,000 songs) and other models offering video and photo capability, it ... appeals to the multimedia aficionado. Its batteries can last up to 28 hours.
Reviewers and owners like flash MP3 players for their diminutive size. Since flash players have no moving parts, they are great for the gym. Flash players hold hundreds of songs rather than thousands; 256 MB will net you about 60 tunes, so 512 MB will store twice as much, and so on. In comparison, standard capacity for new MP3 players in this category is now in the multi-gigabyte range, up to about 16 GB.
The Samsung YP-U2J is a USB plug style MP3 player which has a “slim crystal design with light effects”. This player, which can store over 500 songs, gets over 30 hours of playback on its rechargeable battery. It supports MP3 and WMA/subscription based WMA music files and sports a 4-line LED display which shows song information such as title and artist. Other features include voice recording and a FM tuner with automatic presets. The YP-U2J measures 0.96 x 3.39 x 0.49 inches and is lightweight.
LOS ANGELES, Jun 17, 2004 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Napster, a division of Roxio (Nasdaq: ROXI), today announced a distinctive new promotional campaign that will put a free MP3 player in the hands of every new annual Napster subscriber. 100 Songs: America's Greatest Music in the Movies presentation. Still number one in the MP3 player arena, the venerable iPod family got a new addition in 2005. The pencil-thin iPod nano is a hybrid of sorts, combining the storage capacity of a hard-drive player with the skip protection and compact size of a Flash-based player. It comes in 2 GB (500-song) and 4 GB (1,000-song) models, both of which boast an impressive full-color display and Apple's famous click-wheel navigation system.
Part of that design is ease of use, and Gideon says that loading the nano MP3 player remains a simple affair -- just sync the player with iTunes 7.4 or load songs manually. Nice touches include Cover Flow, which is ... on the iPod Classic, iPod Touch and iPhone. This feature lets users select songs by thumbing through an array of album covers. However, reviews say that while the effect is fun, it doesn't always work as well as it does on other iPod devices, and it's slow.
