Mountain Biking in Teton Village Teton Village, at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, is an excellent location for mountain biking. A seven mile network of singletrack trails has been created to augment the many dual-track trails already on the mountain. Beginner, intermediate, and expert rides can be found among the system. Mountain bikers are able to ride up the entire mountain, via Solitude Road - this activity is for expert bikers only and DOWNHILL RIDING IS NOT PERMITTED above Amphitheater Bowl. Guests wishing to ascend the mountain must check in with Guest Services, located next to the Ticket Windows, before riding. See the summer trail map for more trail details.

A cross country mountain bike race North Shore mountain biking originated in the steep, wet, rocky, rooty terrain of Vancouver, Canada's north shore... it was coined "north shore" riding. Because of the almost, if not completely impassable terrain, riders began building bridges over muddy areas, rocks, stumps and deadfall. These bridges evolved into complex, often extremely challenging, man-made stunts. Because stunts are often narrow and may require the rider to move very slowly regardless of width, north shore riding requires immense balance and bike handling skills. North shore bikes are much like freeride bikes in their geometry and downhill bikes in their component makeup. Because north shore stunts have evolved to not only include simple and complex bridges but also large drops and high speed descents through a series of stunts north shore bikes commonly have as much travel as downhill and freeride bikes, however with much more nimble and maneuverable frame designs, and often lighter-weight.
Mountain Biking destinations Mountain biking, like surfing and skateboarding, started in California, in the mid 1970's and since then, the sport has gained popularity and taken on a personality of its own. Mountain biking become a fast growing sport and past time in British Columbia. This is due to many factors. First and foremost, the terrain in BC makes for great mountain biking. The scenery is spectacular, no matter where you go. The BC weather plays an important role, as there are places in the province where you can mountain bike for ten months out of the year.
