Morgan Pressel: Wins
built 192 days ago
Morgan Pressel played two grueling rounds of golf today to win her first U.S. Women's Amateur title. The first round was played under gloomy skies and over soggy fairways. The afternoon was even worse as storms threatened and rain soaked the golfers. It didn't even faze Morgan Pressel.

[T]here’s no doubt Pressel knows more about winning than Wie. And she has the guts to speak her mind knowing it’s not the popular point of view. That’s a sports figure to cheer.

MORGAN PRESSEL: Well, it's more in that sense, when it's windy like that, you have to focus a lot more on alignments because you're not always aiming at the pin and you're not always playing for the yardage at the pin. And so you've just got to really think a lot more about each shot.

Actually, Pressel, Cristie Kerr and Natalie Gulbis were all stuck in Las Vegas Tuesday night after winning the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge. Pressel's IMG manager, Chris Armstrong, was on the grounds today at Trump International and explained that the players' charter flight was grounded with mechanical problems. They are expected later this afternoon and hope to get in at least an hour's practice before dark.
