Mopeds
built 352 days ago
The Mopeds are back in Moped's Castle to polish their live act. Extra Petter is there too, and he's in splendid shape. All the new songs of the coming album are being rehersed. Petter L has bought himself a metronome to really get the tempos right. Extra Petter has a new amp. Jens is thinking of getting a new guitar.

Mopeds are a class of low-powered motorized vehicles, generally two-wheeled. Moped classification is designed to allow the use of small motorised vehicles, avoiding the safety restrictions and licensing charges required of larger motorcycles. Some motorized bicycles, small scooters, and small motorcycles fit the definition of a moped. In many countries microcars like Aixam and Piaggio Ape are classified as mopeds because of their low top speed and small capacity engine.

Mopeds are entitled to a full traffic lane but may not impede traffic. Mopeds may use bike paths if signs permit them or where they are required by local law to use bike paths. Don't operate a moped on private property without the property owner's permission. Mopeds may park is spaces designated for other motor vehicles, in bicycle racks or on sidewalks, unless otherwise prohibited. But avoid riding on sidewalks or interfering with pedestrians.

The original mopeds and scooters of Europe and indeed the rest of the world are at last available in quantity with quality in the US and many people are taking advantage of this cheap and stylish option not only to get to work and back but for fun as well.

Mopeds can be driven with an M-class driving licence, which can be obtained at the age of 15. People born before 1985 can drive a moped without a licence. The power of an internal combustion engine moped is not limited, but the speed limit is 45 km/h and engine capacity can be a maximum of 50 cc (with electric motor maximum power is restricted to 4 kW). Mopeds are allowed to carry one passenger with the driver, if the moped is registered as having two seats. Both driver and passenger are required to wear helmets. After Finland joined the European Union, EU regulations increased the maximum weight of moped and speed limit was increased from 40 km/h to 45 km/h.

Mopeds have been around for years as a form of cheap transport. They are ... cheap to buy, normally don’t need a driving licence to ride (depending on where you live) and have been, for a couple of generations at least, the first form of motorised transport you are allowed to own as a youngster. Some people progress to motorbikes or cars from owning a moped. Some are quite happy with them for years and some, of course, go back to them even though they have a car as well.
