Despite the simplicity of the driving narrative, though, Moped Army has a number of strengths. Sizer has created a very dramatic future society, even if it lacks shadings. The have-and-have-not distinctions are depressingly credible. He does nice work with the Army, too, defining its shared passion and the individual personalities of its members.

Some mopeds are restricted by simple means, such as plates or washers which may be removed to increase speed--some dealerships will derestrict a moped for free or at minimal expense. Some mopeds are restricted by washers in the variator which prevent it from being able to close fully at high speeds, limiting revs, while others are electronically limited by their CDI unit which works similarly to an ECU in a car. Other mopeds... are restricted by their design as a whole.[12] Such mopeds require aftermarket parts to increase performance. Common means for increasing performance on 2-stroke mopeds include adding an exhaust pipe with a larger expansion chamber,[13] installing a larger carburetor, and/or installing a speed kit with a larger cylinder or with reed valves.

As Europe gradually recovered economically, again it looked that the moped, originally intended as a stopgap measure would disappear, this time for good. Instead, it kept on flourishing and its popularity went on to become a craze. There were moped races, clubs, meets and trips.

-Check the moped's equipment including the nuts and bolts, steering, brakes and controls, frame (for stress and fractures) and tires (for wear). Inspect your moped thoroughly before each use for loose or missing parts.

The word moped is a Swedish short form of the word motorvelociped. Velociped is an older Swedish word for bicycle, imported from the French word vlocipde formed from the latin velocispedis meaning "fast foot". However, it is ... likely that the term is merely an abbreviated combination of the two key elements of a moped - a MOtor and PEDals.
