Moped: Bikes
built 606 days ago
In Ontario, a moped is a motorcycle with pedals and an engine 50cc or smaller. It is written that they must not exceed 50 km/h, but it is unclear whether this is an actual speed limit, or whether the bike cannot be capable of exceeding 50 km/h. This is not the definition elsewhere, so don't be confused.

Riding a moped safely has similar considerations to motorcycle safety... some concerns are exacerbated on a moped. Their smaller size, while offering finer control than larger bikes, also makes them harder to see.[14]. Therefore, many mopeds are equipped with reflectors and other accessories that makes them more visible in the street - especially in the dark.

Paul Sizer's MOPED ARMY (Cafe Digital Comics, $12.95) portrays a near-future showdown between cars and bikes as a turning point in a young woman's life. Although the core elements are familiar -- an unhappy rich girl learns to stand up for herself -- the well-thought-out setting and believable characters give the story an exciting freshness.

A professional thief could steal your moped in as little as 15 seconds. Lock it to an immovable object whether at home or when out, so thieves can’t pick it up,. Consider security tagging your bike and fitting an alarm or immobiliser.

The problem is that a lot of motorcycle insurance companies don't understand the particular needs of the moped owner. They don't take account of the many ways in which mopeds, and their riders, differ from bikes, and as a result, the unwary moped rider may be charged over the odds.
