Monty Python's Flying Circus is probably best known for the Spanish inquisition incident of 1997. The gang travelled through the United Kingdom, appearing out of nowhere when anybody claims they "didn't expect a sort of Spanish inquisition". When they arrived, Michael Palin would announce "Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition". The gang would then proceed to attack with such items as the soft pillow, the dish rack, and the comfy chair. Fifty people are known to have died from Spanish inquisition attacks. Hundeds of others were left emotionally damaged.

Too bad all deities aren't this easy to worship. No reason for faith or foolish rituals; just sit back and watch the wonders of wit unfold. Overall, Monty Python's Flying Circus is a great example of what creative minds can accomplish when they work together. Anyone with an appreciation of comedy will see that these mates are masters of comedic timing, clever writing, character creation, and the art of physical comedy. Teens interested in acting and theater arts may be inspired by the show -- even though it originally aired in the late 1960s and '70s, it remains a grand example of talent and creativity and, frankly, is still hilarious.

What could be more nostalgic for those fans of the 1970s BBC comedy heights of Monty Python's Flying Circus than to see their best loved sketches revived on the stage? The catch is of course that in 2005 Monty Python will be staged with a différence, in this case completely in French. This unusual revue was a hit at the Edinburgh Festival 2003, has ooh la la'ed Paris for two years and has now found its way to the Riverside Studios for a London run.
