built 629 days ago
Molotov is the premier Mexico proponent of the rap-metal genre, and they are big. They’ve done extensive touring in Mexico, the U.S., and Europe, they’ve played in Argentina and Russia. Molotov has been written up in “Billboard”, “USA Today”, “Newsday”, The LA Times”, “The New York Times”, “Chicago Tribune”, “Rolling Stone”, “Vibe”, “Bass Player”, and “Rap” magazine, which called them “...one of the most important groups of Latin America.” They’ve appeared on the Latin MTV Video Music Awards Show, and earned gold and platinum records in various countries (including a platinum in the U.S.), and their music has appeared in the soundtrack of “The Big Hit” and on the Howard Stern radio show.

The rap-metal band Molotov formed in 1995 in Mexico City, comprising singer/guitarist Tito Fuentes, bassists Mickey "Huidos" Huidobro and Javier de la Cueva, and a drummer known as La Quesadillera. By 1996, Paco Ayala had replaced de la Cueva and Randy "El Gringo Loco" Ebright became the band's new drummer. Molotov's 1997 debut LP Donde Jugaran Las Ninas? was a hit with both Spanish- and English-speaking audiences, earning a Grammy nomination for best Latin rock-alternative performance. The remix collection Molomix followed a year later, and in 1999 the group returned with Apocalypshit, produced and recorded by Mario Caldato, Jr. (the Beastie Boys). Two and a half years later, Molotov followed with their third album Dance and Dense Denso.
Molotov formed in Mexico City and played its first show in 1995. The band is currently surfing the charts with its latest Latin Grammy nominated album, Con Todo Respeto, a collection of cover versions of its favorite songs. The Gil Scott-Heron protest anthem "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" ("La Revolución No Se Televisara") exemplifies their political leanings as they adapt it to articulate the ills they see. It's a marvel that blasts at Spanish-language TV gossip shows, the novela soap operas and corporate domination.

After misadventure and...well, misadventure, Molotov settled for a time in the city of Rhydin, a festering pit of corruption, vice, and pain-in-the-neck vampires. When enough became enough, Molotov took to the road with Rain, his Gangrel lover. The two eventually settled in Manchester, NH, nearer to both their old haunts (in his case, extremely old).
