In 1969, at age four, Molly Shannon survived a car crash that killed her mother, three year-old sister, and cousin. She later went on to graduate from Hawken School in Gates Mills, Ohio. After high school, Shannon attended the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in New York City. She graduated with a BFA in Drama in 1987.

The Charmin Restrooms open its doors November 19th with actress and comedian Molly Shannon at 1540 Broadway in Times Square between West 45th and West 46th Street. The Restrooms are open to the public from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm seven days a week from now until December 31st. Restrooms will be open all day on Thanksgiving and until 6pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The Restrooms will be closed Christmas day.

In Year of the Dog, Molly Shannon plays a dog lover. In real life, they make her sneeze. Still, despite her allergy, Shannon cuddled up with some pooches at the Amanda Foundation rescue shelter to promote the film, which is playing in New York and Los Angeles and will be expanding to more theaters in the coming weeks.
