Misty May, the setter for Long Beach State University's NCAA championship volleyball team, has been presented with this year's Honda Award. May, a senior from Costa Mesa, CA, led her team to an undefeated season and a victory over Penn State for the NCAA championship.

Misty May: Basically, your indoor game is your outdoor game. The only difference is learning to deal with the surface and the wind. On the beach, you really have to be able to do everything, where if you play indoor, you might not be able to pass, but you're hidden in the back row and the other players will make up for it. When you're on an indoor team, some of the better players will take over, but on the beach, there's just the two of you, so you both better be good at everything or your team's going to lose.
