1. Hoot Gibson -- Mission
   A suit technician assists STS-71 Mission Commander Robert L. "Hoot" Gibson during suitup activities in the Operations and Checkout Building. Gibson and the rest of his flight crew -- four U.S. astronauts and two Russian cosmonauts -- will shortly depart for Launch Pad 39A, where the Space Shuttle Atlantis awaits a third liftoff attempt at 3:32 p.m. EDT. His fifth trip into space will be an historic one for Gibson, as he commands a mission to complete the first docking between the U.S. Space Shuttle and the Russian Space Station Mir.
2. Daily Jang
   The Daily Jang is the largest Urdu language newspaper of the world, published by the Jang Group simultaneously from Pakistan's main cities, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Multan, as well as from London (UK) as well for circulation throughout Europe. Mir Khalil ur Rehman was the founder of the newspaper and now his younger son Mir Shakil ur Rehman is the present owner.
3. Mallinckrodt -- Mallinckrodt Institute
   Since 1931, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology 's successive directors have supported the development of basic sciences associated with radiology.    As reported in daily Jang, the ameer of Jamaat Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, said that a few Westernised women are protesting against the religious extremists to please the Americans. These protests are creating discord among the Muslims’ unity. The Western embassies in Pakistan are funding these NGOs and Westernised women to create the atmosphere of a clash of civilisations in Pakistan.
7. Leonid Brezhnev -- Communist Party
   Leonid Brezhnev was born on Dec. 12, 1906, in Kamenskoe (now Dneprodzerzhinsk), a metallurgical center in the Ukraine. A member of a working-class family, he was obliged to leave school at the age of 15 and go to work. But he continued to study as a part-time student of surveying at a vocational secondary school, and graduated at the age of 21. In the years immediately following, Brezhnev held a number of minor government posts and at that time ... joined the Communist party. Then he enrolled in the Kamenskoe Metallurgical Institute, graduating in 1935 as a metallurgical engineer. The field of engineering engaged him only briefly, however, for he soon became involved in government and party work.

Even though her image has hardly evolved since her début, Mireille Mathieu remains one of the biggest French stars of the last thirty years.
9. Sputnik -- United States
   The United States' official response to Sputnik was multi-pronged. School curriculums with an emphasis on science and mathematics were quickly established to prepare students for the challenges ahead; the National Defense Education Act was enacted to provide hundreds of millions of dollars in student loans, scholarships, fellowships, and the purchase of scientific equipment for schools; support was expanded for the National Science Foundation, and the Advanced Research Projects Agency was created.
10. Plants -- Monsanto Company
    The Monsanto probes were part of a "stress mitigation" study during the 2006 season, demonstrating how YieldGard Plus is able to help reduce the stress of dry weather on corn plants. Most of the moisture probes were placed in Monsanto stress mitigation plots, which were grown under 40-foot by 50-foot tents with a clear vinyl top that allowed the corn plants to receive sunlight but not rain. Under these simulated dry conditions, YieldGard Plus corn hybrids achieved a 31.2 bushel-per-acre yield advantage over soil-insecticide protected corn.
