Minsk: Independent States
built 629 days ago
Minsk is Belaruss capital, situated on the Svislach and Niamiha rivers. Minsk is ... a headquarters of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It has exciting history of 900 years, yet today it has been rebuilt from the damage of the WW II. Since tourism is not its main activity, yet travelling to Minsk is on-the-route of travelling throughout Europe. Belarusians are good with their national cuisine, which is similar to other East European ones. Generally it features heavy-fat potato dishes, mushrooms, soups and baked meat.

The Minsk is a pretty big ship at 900 feet long, but it is quite different from US Navy aircraft carriers. It is essentially a conventional ship with the flight deck hung off of the side of the ship. This configuration was picked to match the helicopters and vertical take-off jets that were stationed on the ship.

There are several bus routes from Vilnius central bus station to "Avtovokzal Vostochniy" bus station in Minsk. The Minsk bus station is not very close to downtown... you can have a taxi ride with 10000 roubles (less than €4). The bus service takes up to 5 hours (be prepared to spend more than 1 hour and half at the custom). Due to the bad quality of the train service, bus ride should be preferred.

There are several bus stations in Minsk, though most of international arrivals come to the Central Bus Terminal. This terminal offers few facilities of its own, maybe because it is next to the Central Rail Terminal, which has all of those.
